Roman legions invaded the area of Mount Civetta around the time of the birth of Christ. Evidence of the ancient Roman border can be found in Tapp da le Parole: on a protected ledge on the wall called the Falconèra is the writing FIN BEL IVL familiar with the people of Alleghe since ancient times – which was discovered by mountaineer Domenico Rudatis in the Thirties.
Start from Piani di Pezzè, go past Ristoro Fontanabona and start climbing. Walk straight on along the Lander slope and, at the top, continue to the left along the dirt road until you see the sign “Tapp da le parole” in the direction of the wood. Despite the path to the Roman inscription not being used a lot, it is relatively easy to follow.
